With our powers combined: New paper on the integration of behavioural and genetic data

A new paper was published in Rethinking Ecology, on the integration of behavioural and genetic data to estimate mating success and sexual selection (Gauthey et al. 2017). This paper proposes a new statistical approach/model combining behavioural and genetic data. In this particular paper, the model was applied to experimental data on mate choice and mating success in brown trout. The experimental testing of new models/approaches is not essential for publication in Rethinking Ecology, but in this case it provides valuable insight into the potential outcome of the new model and how it differs from classical regression analyses.

The proposed approach can be adapted and used for a variety of biological systems where behavioral and genetic data are available.

This paper was published in less than a month (time from initial submission to publication), thanks to reviews provided by the Peerage Of Science platform.
